Policy is an important tool for social innovations to have a true global impact. Legislation, investments, innovation strategies and research are all impacted by regional, national and European policy and they have a profound impact on the identity of social innovation within the innovations system. Given the cross sectoral nature of social innovation, it is a cutting edge movement pushing policy makers to adress policy in new ways.
